PRODUCTION DIRECTOR

As the Production Director, you will monitor, lead, train, and manage staff within the Production department. As a department head, this role will be responsible for setting the goals and forecasts for the department by overseeing the full production budget and ensuring each vendor(s) and contributor(s) is equipped to deliver the best services and outcomes possible.  Throughout the planning process the Production Director will identify requirements for the production and develop a staffing plan. Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the production (pre-sale to post event) for all events, which includes but is not limited to developing estimated budgets, attending site visits, client meetings, specking out gear and securing work crews, and developing a production strategy.
  • Participate in Leadership Team meetings to continually grow and improve Black House’s services, capabilities, procedures, profitability and brand identity
  • Continually develop processes for production that are concise and clear and managed in our project management system 
  • Committed to seeking and employing diverse vendors, freelancers and suppliers 
  • Responsible for developing solutions for production that reduce waste and our carbon footprint as an agency 
  • Collaborate with leadership to learn and implement methods for creating a stellar work environment that engages and retains the talented and diverse workforce
  • Approve all vendor(s) and entertainment contracts
  • Provide information needed to Production Admin for soliciting vendor quotes 
  • Oversee process for booking freelancers and collaborate through proposal process
  • Partner with HR to recruit talented freelancers and manage the production teams
  • Work with Account Manager to develop proposals, produce client demos, and attend pitch meetings when necessary
  • Develop and maintain budgets with timely updates throughout the event process through constant review and analysis. Track costs against budget for reconciliation with clients and vendors
  • Cultivate partnerships with vendors and venues and represent BlackHouse at industry networking events 
  • Develop and maintain a database of vendors and venues 
  • Oversee and manage production schedule/call sheets
  • Maintain an inventory-tracking system and coordinate all production equipment
  • Responsible for implementing, enforcing and maintaining Covid Safety procedures for onsite and in studio productions.
  • Must complete industry-specific training and certifications relevant to the role on an ongoing basis 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred   
  • 6+ years production management experience
  • 2+ years experience with an agency managing a small team of producers & support staff
  • Proven track record building and developing a production organization and executing upon a project’s vision.
  • Thoroughly understand of the mechanics behind cross discipline team collaboration 
  • Proven experience successfully managing production teams and processes
  • Proven experience on training staff on tools, systems and software required for projects.
  • Proven experience managing creative individuals with a variety of production styles and experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong presentation, communication skills, both written and verbal. (Required) 
  • Experience with live, virtual and hybrid events. 
  • Experience working with Brand, Corporate, and Non-profit clients. 
  • Experience partnering with geographically dispersed teams
  • Thorough technical understanding of lighting, rigging, audio, video, web-streaming, and scenic construction.
  • Working knowledge of relevant fire-code and life-safety codes for permitting and planning.
  • Experience working with VectorWorks (Required)
  • Knowledge of Google Suite
  • Experience with SketchUp (preferred but not required)
  • Knowledge of local and national venues and vendors. 
  • Very collaborative, cultivating strong relationships across all parts of the business. 
  • A strong sense of urgency and ability to prioritize. Passionate about events and care deeply about the guest experience and customer satisfaction.
  • Experience approaching problem solving from multiple angles
  • Entrepreneurial experience (perferred)
